CURRENT PROGRAMS AND COLLABORATIONS
In this, our inaugural year, The Noah Farrelly Memorial Fund is proud to present two original scholarship programs and collaborate on other efforts benefitting local youth. We will add information about new projects as they develop, and will post announcements of our 2019 scholarship recipients shortly after they are awarded in June.
The Noah Farrelly Kindness Counts Scholarship – Binghamton High School

Noah Farrelly Memorial Scholarships – Southern Tier Athletic Conference, Cross Country Running
The Noah Farrelly Memorial Scholarship is awarded each school year, to one male and one female Southern Tier Athletic Conference cross country runner who best exemplify the qualities of excellent sportsmanship for which Noah was admired by teammates, opponents, and coaches throughout his own STAC running career.
Each STAC cross country team nominatesa graduating senior male and female who have participated in varsity or junior varsity cross country at a Southern Tier Athletic Conference member school. Selection of award recipients is made collectively by STAC head varsity coaches whose teams have submitted nominations. (Coaches may not vote for their own athletes.) Farrelly’s Feet
Farrelly’s Feet is an extension of Mrs. McIver’s Closet, a program at MacArthur Elementary School inspired by former principal Maria McIver, which provides new and gently-used clothing and shoes to students in need. For 2019, The Noah Farrelly Memorial Fund will donate 50 pairs of new athletic shoes to the program. We hope to expand this effort to other Binghamton City Schools over time.
The poverty rate in Binghamton is significantly higher than both the New York State and national averages. One out of every three residents of Binghamton and 52% of children livebelow the Federal Poverty Line. The Noah Farrelly Memorial Fund is proud to partner with Mrs. McIver’s Closet, to help families ease the economic burden of keeping up with growing feet.

Projects Actively In Development
Student Runner Safety & Identification
This program, expected to launch with the 2019-2020 school year, is especially meaningful to The Noah Farrelly Memorial fund and will be a central, ongoing focus.
The accident that cost our son Noah his life occurred while he was on a morning training run for the Stony Brook University cross country and track team. He was struck by a motor vehiclewhile crossingan intersection along a broad, semi-rural stretch of parkway immediately outside of the campus. It was several hours before we were informed of what had happened, because like many young runners, Noah didn’t carry identification. We were just going about our day, completely unaware that our child had been mortally injured.
The Noah Farrelly Memorial Fund is committed to helping other young runners avoid Noah’s fate, and sparing other families from delayed notification in the wake of a running accident. Our student runner safety and identification program will entail a live presentation delivered at school by Noah’s mother, Bridgette Stein Farrelly – toshare Noah’s story, teach road safety best practices, and provide young runners with wearable identification accessories. The program will initially focus on Southern Tier Athletic Conference schools and may expand to other area schools over time.
